Updating ps3 from compact flash
Sony on Wednesday evening announced that a firmware update is rolling out to fix broken Play Station 3 consoles. The update is meant to reverse the damage caused by an earlier patch that left a “small number” of users with bricked consoles. Before applying the update you need to boot your PS3 in to Safe Mode. This is a pretty simple process: So, with Safe Mode activated and a controller plugged in, insert your flash drive and select option 6 “System Update.” Then press Select and Start at the same time to initiate the update from the USB stick.
On June 19, Sony may have rendered your PS3 unusable due to releasing firmware update 4.45 and bricking some consoles.
But it is as easy as loading the firmware to a USB stick, holding the power button down twice, and choosing System Update from Safe Mode.
You should be up and running again in just a few minutes.
Follow the on screen instructions to begin the update.
When the update is done, your PS3 will reboot and when you come back, confirm you have the firmware update.
