Updating ram in ibm thinkpad 600x

I had an old IBM Thinkpad that I bought used at a local computer show for Dena.A Pentium II 233Mhz with a 5G hard drive and 192M of PC100 RAM.After enabling/disabling wireless a couple of times using the button the computer hangs. For suspend to RAM, needs APM (not ACPI) : add 'apm=on acpi=off nolapic' (without quotes) to kernel options in /boot/grub/, add apm to /etc/modules, and add shpchp and pciehp to /etc/hotplug/blacklist.Infrared and TV out untested, Modem works with correct drivers, see Dialup Modem Howto and follow the instructions to get and use Scan Modem to determine what modem is present and how to get the drivers for it. : I created this entry after my personal experience. All Lenovo T, X and R laptops have several bugs in the BIOS that are being actively fixed by Lenovo. For these laptops, BIOS updates are not optional if you find anything to not be working properly, be it the brightness control, or suspend to RAM, or volume keys.SSD, then proceed to the site of Backblaze and enligten yourself. The first time you power it up you’ll get another BIOS error code, this one telling you that you need to set the date/time. This quick and simple hack has given this old Thinkpad a new life.

You can find manuals and downloads for them at the Lenovo End of Life Product Resource page.

All IBM and Lenovo production/public firmware releases have part numbers that end in WW. it ends in V1, it probably means you are still using the factory-provided firmware and that the factory did not install the final release of the firmware. You must make sure that the BIOS ID you are trying to install matches what was installed in your Think Pad by the factory.

A few models like the A31 and R61 have different BIOSes, and will malfunction if you pick the wrong one and somehow manage to force it to install.

The FW model column is what actually identifies which sort of firmware (BIOS and Embedded Controller) should be installed in a Think Pad.

Machines with the same firmware model use the same BIOS and Embedded Controller firmware.
